The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) issued a statement in response to the death of George Floyd in May 2020. In part the statement reads:
“We are heartbroken over the senseless loss of life … [of} George Floyd in the Twin Cities. We are humbly reminded of the work yet to be done to prevent violence and create a just and equitable society. … We denounce violence and racism and seek to lift up compassion and humility.”
As part of our commitment to create inclusive and equitable communities, the foundation made a $5,000 grant to Voices for Racial Justice. This investment will support their work to build bridges across racial disparities, to showcase research and best practices, and to build leadership capacity for people of color and Indigenous peoples in rural areas.
