Throughout the scholarship season, we are spotlighting scholarship recipients by sharing the thank you notes they submitted to their respective scholarship committees.
The donors who support these funds and the volunteers and committee members who champion these funds are all investing in the future of this region. We thank them for their work in making a sustainable impact of the lives of those who call our community home.
Jody Pemberton, a graduate of Bemidji High School, earned two scholarships through NMF: the K.E. “Red” and Ruth Shannon Wilson Scholarship and the Mississippi Headwaters Blood Bank Scholarship.
Here is what she submitted:
I would like to thank you for your generosity in providing such wonderful scholarship opportunity. My words cannot even describe how grateful I was to receive this scholarship from you.
This scholarship will help me focus a lot on my spring semester of my freshmen year in college. Allowing for me to focus on school and not the stress of financial issues, will give me better chances at getting better grades and getting accepted in the nursing program!
To be selected for this scholarship has made me feel that I can do a ton of things I didn’t think possible. In all reality I didn’t think I would be smart enough or have a good enough resume to be even considered. I was wrong, when I got that email I was ecstatic and it took a little weight off my shoulders with not having to worry too much about the money aspect of college. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you so much!
Sincerely, Jody Pemberton
