Under the new partnership, Northwest Minnesota Foundation will work closely with OBT to administer $350,000 in funds for grants up to $75,000 to support local organizations that directly respond to immediate challenges and opportunities in the community.
Agassiz Environmental Learning Center (AELC) received a grant from the Fertile-Beltrami Area Community Fund to support their Water Wonders of the Sand Hill River program, which provided an exciting outdoor opportunity for fourth-grade classes from school districts within the area to explore the river.
The Ole and Ruth Tweet Family Fund, a fund within the Northwest Minnesota Foundation family of funds, has supported a nonprofit that takes veterans on Honor Flights to Washington, D.C. so they can experience the memorials honoring their service.
Hannah Peura is a local entrepreneur, running a woman-owned retail business called Compass Rose in downtown Bemidji. Hannah has dedicated herself to Compass Rose since its creation in 2016.
To address the shortage of child care slots and staffing challenges, the Park Rapids area has decided to use a futuristic vision – “growing their own” child care providers.
Twelve businesses and organizations in Bemidji will receive nearly $1.2 million in grant support with funds approved by the Northwest Minnesota Foundation through the state’s Minnesota Main Street Economic Revitalization Program.
