Northwest Minnesota Community Impact Corporation
We know that making our local businesses strong makes our whole community stronger, and that includes helping lift up those entrepreneurs and businesses from historically underserved populations.
The Northwest Minnesota Community Impact Corporation is a subsidiary of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.
The NMCIC was formed in 2023 to expand our mission in building better lives for everyone in our Northwest Minnesota region.
Establishing the NMCIC allows us to better serve the communities and individuals in our region who have been historically underserved by providing financing and expertise.
The NMCIC supports a more purposeful approach in the communities and populations that have had difficult time accessing funding.
This will also allow us to continue supporting community revitalization.
Since 1996, the Northwest Minnesota Foundation has been a certified CDFI, a Community Development Financial Institution, through the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The program provides financing intended to support community revitalization.
The creation of the NMCIC will allow us to continue our work as a CDFI with a different approach.
