September 27, 2023 (Bemidji, MN) – North Star Neighbors, a community land trust serving Northwest Minnesota, is seeking experienced and knowledgeable professionals to join its Advisory Committee. The committee will play a key role in providing strategic guidance, insights,
and expertise to help shape the future direction of the organization.
Specifically, North Star Neighbors is seeking expertise in the following areas: affordable housing developers, large employers, real estate agents, bank lenders, homeowner insurance sales, recent homebuyers (within the last two years), and construction trades professionals. All interested individuals are encouraged to submit their proposals for consideration. The initial term for this advisory committee is expected to be six months, with an opportunity for extension. It is estimated that a committee member will spend 2 to 5 hours monthly on the work of the CLT.
North Star Neighbors is a subsidiary of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation and is a non-profit corporation committed to increasing affordable home ownership opportunities across Northwest Minnesota. A diverse and accomplished Advisory Committee will enhance North Star Neighbors’ ability to make well-informed decisions and achieve its objectives.
A community land trust (CLT) is a housing development model that aims to provide affordable housing to low- to moderate income households. This is accomplished by separating the ownership of land from the ownership of the structures built on the land. The CLT retains ownership of the land and provides homebuyers with an affordability gap subsidy so they can purchase a home in their appropriate price range.
