In January, the Boys & Girls Club of Bemidji Area hosted an exhibit displaying 181 pieces of artwork submitted by 87 of its Club members.
This exhibit was funded in part through a grant awarded by the Bemidji Area Arts Endowment, also known as BAAE, a component fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.
“The National Fine Arts program focuses on teaching and strengthening members’ skills in eight different mediums throughout the whole year,” the Boys & Girls Club reported back to the BAAE. “This year we added the Image Makers program, a photography program, which focuses on teaching members the different aspects of a camera.”
The exhibit was open to Club families and community members, who were invited to observe and recognize the work that Club members produced through the National Fine Arts program.
Three BAAE members also volunteered as judges to select the pieces that would be advanced onto Regionals; 27 were chosen.
