The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) is pleased to announce three new members to its Board of Directors.
Alisha Everwind is a consultant and adjunct faculty member at Bemidji State University. She has served as the Chief Operating Officer of Red Lake Incorporated and the Vice President of Operations of Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center.
“I’ve always appreciated NMF’s approach to supporting the necessary services and growth of our communities,” Alisha said. “My heart recognizes that my cultural community is based in both Obaashiing (Ponemah) and Red Lake as they are the communities my ancestors have left for me and my family to call home, even if it is not our place of residence. It is an honor to serve an organization that provides valuable resources to both of these communities that I love, Kelliher and Red Lake Nation.”
Christine Imbra has lived in Bemidji since 1976. She is a professor emerita at St. Cloud State University where she taught and served in administrative positions. Christine is also a proud alumna of Bemidji State University (B.S. and M.A.). She currently serves as a volunteer grant writer at the Bemidji Senior Center and is a volunteer at the Watermark Art Center.
“I remember when women like Rosemary Given Amble and Ruth Edevold worked to start/support the Minnesota Women’s Fund, Planned Parenthood, Battered Women’s Shelter, Sexual Assault Services, etc., and have watched these organizations evolve into amazing and dynamic community resources,” she said. “I have been inspired by the advocacy work of the women who have come before me and have spent my life trying to do the same in the community. I’m honored to now serve on the board of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.”
Kyle Larson is the Market President at the Frandsen Bank & Trust in Ada. He, his wife, and their young children live in Ada. Kyle grew up and lived many years in Mahnomen County and served on the Mahnomen School District Board. Kyle is now active in the Ada community and serves with various organizations.
“I have always been involved in the school districts and communities through coaching, school board, and volunteering,” he said. “I am proud to call the communities of Norman and Mahnomen counties my home.”
The NMF Board of Directors is comprised of 12 individuals who live and work throughout the Northwest Minnesota region, which includes Red Lake Nation, White Earth Nation, and the 12 counties of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, and Roseau.
Members of the Board of Directors are elected to four-year terms and can serve a maximum of two terms.
