About this Series: The Northwest Minnesota Foundation staff believes that we can all make a difference in our communities by stepping forward to becoming part of something bigger. This belief not only helps drive our day-to-day activities at work but is also apparent in our personal lives. This series highlights our staff’s commitment to community through their volunteer activities, those that occur outside of the traditional work day.
“I have volunteered for Bemidji Area Take a Kid Fishing. I think it is important to introduce children in our region to opportunities they have right outside their back door. It is very unfortunate that there are lots of young people who do not have somebody to take them fishing or do not have the proper equipment to do things like go fishing, on one of the many lakes that dot the region. It has been very rewarding to see the kids enjoy a day on the lake and to know that they have been introduced to a great hobby they can carry throughout their lifetime.”
