Throughout the scholarship season, we are spotlighting scholarship recipients by sharing the thank you notes they submitted to their respective scholarship committees.
The donors who support these funds and the volunteers and committee members who champion these funds are all investing in the future of this region. We thank them for their work in making a sustainable impact of the lives of those who call our community home.
Lydia Hodgson, a graduate of Warroad High School, earned the Warroad Presidential Freedom Scholarship.
Here is what she submitted:
This semester was a very eye-opening experience for me. I found myself in ways I never even knew I needed to. I gained a monumental amount of confidence, friendships, knowledge, and experience. I joined a professional business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, and really immersed myself in the commercial world. I took classes centered around topics I actually care about, which showed when it came to my final grades. I took notes for a deaf student in my sociology class. I experienced different cultures and many people from very different lives. I secured an internship in construction management for the summer of 2023 that I am very excited for. I hiked, jumped into the freezing water of Lake Superior, danced, moved into my first apartment, made valuable connections, and began to grow into the person I truly want to become. I’d like to offer a profound thank you to the generous donors who are allowing me to continue this adventure, it means more than you know!
