Throughout the scholarship season, we are spotlighting scholarship recipients by sharing the thank you notes they submitted to their respective scholarship committees. The donors who support these funds and the volunteers and committee members who champion these funds are all investing in the future of this region. We thank them for their work in making a sustainable impact of the lives of those who call our community home.
Niah Shumway, who graduated from Williston High School, earned the Cody Holte Scholarship.
Here is what she submitted:
Hello! I am Niah Shumway and I am from Williston, North Dakota. I am an incoming Senior at NDSU pursuing my Masters in Criminal Justice. I am a CDT in the NDSU ROTC program and a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard.
Cody Holte’s courageous service as a law enforcement officer serves as an inspiring example. Receiving this scholarship in his name is a reminder of the bravery and dedication that our law enforcement officers have to protecting and serving.
I am honored to have been selected to receive a scholarship in the name of Cody. This scholarship will significantly aid me in covering my tuition as I am currently paying both undergraduate and graduate tuition simultaneously while pursuing my accelerated Master’s Degree.
Thank you again for this incredible honor and for supporting students like myself. I will strive to honor Cody’s memory in all that I do.
