Throughout the scholarship season, we are spotlighting scholarship recipients by sharing the thank you notes they submitted to their respective scholarship committees. The donors who support these funds and the volunteers and committee members who champion these funds are all investing in the future of this region. We thank them for their work in making a sustainable impact of the lives of those who call our community home.
Samantha Larson, who graduated from Kittson Central High School, earned the Northwest Minnesota Women’s Scholarship.
Here is what she submitted:
My name is Samantha Larson. I am from Hallock, Minnesota, where I have lived my entire life. Thank you for your generous gift through this Northwest Minnesota Women’s Scholarship of $1,000. I will be using this scholarship to pay for my college bill at the University of Minnesota Crookston. I would not have enough money to cover the cost of my college education. I am from a family who does not make a lot of money, and with both my sister and I in college, their tight funds would be stretched beyond what they could afford. Thank you for believing in me! I am honored that you chose my application out of all the other applications you received. One of my teachers told me that nobody from Kittson Central had received this scholarship before. Wow, what an honor!
