Throughout the scholarship season, we are spotlighting scholarship recipients by sharing the thank you notes they submitted to their respective scholarship committees. The donors who support these funds and the volunteers and committee members who champion these funds are all investing in the future of this region. We thank them for their work in making a sustainable impact of the lives of those who call our community home.
Wyatt Lahr, who graduated from Laporte High School, earned the Laporte Education Endowment Scholarship.
Here is what he submitted:
Hello, my name is Wyatt Lahr, and I graduated from Laporte Public School. I am currently attending Minnesota North College at the Itasca campus and am studying forestry. I would like to hand out a big thank you for the scholarship, that you the donor, have so graciously awarded me. I also greatly appreciate the fact that you give students like me a chance to make their journey through college easier.
I will use this scholarship to help pay for my textbooks which, as I’m sure you know, are very expensive. I will also use the money from this scholarship to help pay my tuition for the semester.
When I got the letter in the mail that I had won this scholarship I was very happy. The thought of paying for college was weighing pretty heavily on my mind, so when I read the letter that the foundation sent to me, I felt a sense of relief.
Again, I would like to thank you for awarding me this scholarship.
