Here at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, we’re proud to say that not only do we have dedicated staff committed to their work in building better lives throughout Northwest Minnesota, but 90 percent of our staff also give to the NMF Endowment, or one of its component funds.
Today, on this Giving Tuesday, we’re highlighting a couple of their stories.

Where you donate to at NMF: NMF Endowment
I choose to donate to NMF’s endowment because I believe in the long-term vitality of the Foundation. The work of each department at NMF (e.g. lending, Philanthropy, scholarships, housing, homelessness, etc.) is vital to the entire region on so many levels. Hearing success stories about how community and donor funds are able to uplift their communities in multiple ways is so inspiring. As I’ve become more familiar about how NMF acts as a connector for our neighbors throughout the region, it makes sense for my family to support NMF’s continued work and growth.
What do you personally connect with about the work of NMF?
Not only is NMF a great place to work, but we are all enabling important, impactful changes throughout the region. I choose to give to the NMF Endowment to ensure these efforts can continue for future generations. Working with small businesses to succeed and grow is what I do for NMF and our region daily. By giving back, I ensure this work can continue to support our small businesses and the communities in which I live, work, and play.
What should people know about NMF?
The NMF Endowment helps ensure our work can continue long into the future. Funders look to our endowment to ensure we can support the mission of the funds they entrust to us as a benefit to Northwest Minnesota. Having a strong endowment allows NMF to offer greater financial support to communities in the form of grants, loans, and technical assistance.
