Offering a Fresh Start: Bemidji man aims to start food truck to offer felon-friendly employment

Jody Pemberton, a graduate of Bemidji High School, earned two scholarships through NMF: the K.E. “Red” and Ruth Shannon Wilson Scholarship and the Mississippi Headwaters Blood Bank Scholarship.

For the last three years, Missy Okeson has served on the Great Start for All Minnesota Children Task Force, working with legislators and state officials to develop a state plan to provide Minnesota families access to high-quality child care and education.

The Frances McNeill Karlsson Arts Scholarship, a component fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, is seeking qualified applicants to apply for the 2023 scholarship round.

The Laural Capistran Murphy Scholarship, a component fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, was established by Laural’s friends and family to recognize her commitment to Minnesota’s 4-H program and her belief in self-education, co-operative volunteering, and helping others through community involvement.

A $10,000 grant to White Earth Tribal & Community College helped fund a project to promote health and wellbeing within White Earth Nation. This funding was provided through the NMF Emergency Disaster Recovery Fund.

More than $840,000 was loaned or granted out into the region from October through December through the Northwest Minnesota Foundation. This three-month timeframe comprises the second quarter of NMF’s fiscal year.
