Throughout the scholarship season, we are spotlighting scholarship recipients by sharing the thank you notes they submitted to their respective scholarship committees.
The donors who support these funds and the volunteers and committee members who champion these funds are all investing in the future of this region. We thank them for their work in making a sustainable impact of the lives of those who call our community home.
Paige Pickar, who graduated from Warroad High School, earned the Gaylord A. Gunderson Scholarship
Here is what she submitted:
I want to thank the Northwest Minnesota Foundation and Gaylord Gunderson for the opportunity to receive this scholarship. This scholarship will benefit me by helping me pay for my college. Getting these scholarships helped push me more to go to college and achieve a career for me. Going into scholarship night I didn’t know if I would get any scholarships but when my name was called for two I felt so much joy, and I felt like I mattered in a way and that I can do this. Once again thank you so much for these scholarships, it made a difference to me knowing I could go on and get help going into my future.

Scholarship season is now upon us! The application window for scholarships offered through Northwest Minnesota Foundation opened February 1st. Most will close on April 15th.
